The Terminator Notes

Whilst I was watching The Terminator, throughout the film I took down relevant notes of each scene and a short analysis of what happens in the scene, character analyses, and also notes on the iconography of The Terminator. The notes that i have made were notes that i have taken within our class lessons whilst watching The Terminator 1.

Following on from making notes from the scenes within The Terminator 1, this then led me to go into more detail on analysing the last scene of The Terminator by doing a Mise En Scene, with the Mise En Scene it then helped me to gain a better understanding of Sarah Connor and how she has changed from the start of the film to the end of the film.

From working on the Mise En Scene of both the start of Terminator and the end of Terminator this helped me and my partner create our 'Talking Heads" demonstrating clearly how much Sarah Connor has changed throughout the film.

After completing mine and Tom Williams Talking heads, overall the outcome of the editing process and content within the Talking heads was very good and well structured. The content of the analysis of the first and last scene of terminator 1 was very detailed and interesting and also goes into depth of the mise on scene of each shot. The decision we both agreed on via taking each shot separately was in the end the right decision as the result ended well in the layout being very clear, and also if one of the recordings we messed up we could edit this recording and start over whereas if we recorded the whole talking heads as one recording this would have made this much more tricky. Despite the positive outcome of the talking heads, there are a few adjustments we could have made to potentially make our talking heads better. For example me and Tom could have analysed the shot whilst it was playing instead of using screenshots of the shot. We did discuss this as a possible idea however we decided not to as we felt we couldn’t develop our answers in the given amount of time of the shot.
